Date: 8/6/08
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Admission: Free
Local author and teacher Susan Shapiro hosts this yearly event, gathering fellow writers for a joint reading – because when the therapists go on vacation in August, we turn to literature to cure our neuroses. Wine will be served, courtesy of the Portland, Oregon Indie Wine Festival.
Featuring Authors:
Kimberly Auerbach, author of The Devil, The Lovers and Me (Dutton)
Jonathan Fast, author of Ceremonial Violence (Overlook)
Alice Feiring, author of The Battle for Wine and Love (Harcourt)
We’ve heard of Big Oil and Big Pharma…but Big Wine? Wine journalist Alice Feiring says we should reject Big Wine – viticulture as a business and technology – and return to the way things used to be done. Her new book is The Battle for Wine and Love.
Liza Monroy, author of Mexican High (Spiegel & Grau)
Liza Monroy’s debut novel, Mexican High, is the coming-of-age story of the daughter of an American diplomat living in Mexico City. It’s also a revealing look at elite Mexican society.
